Autumn leaves are changing colour.

We are learning that some trees have leaves that change colour in the Autumn and they are called deciduous trees. We collected autumn leaves from around the school then used autumn coloured pastels to create a blended effect on our leaves. The trees whose leaves do not change colour are called evergreen trees.

Pets' parade and the end of the term

These are just a few photos of our wonderful Pet Parade.  We had lots of dogs which behaved  well, fish, bugs, turtles even  an  axolotl ! Children also brought a cat, chickens, rabbits and guinea pigs. Each animal group did a Grand Parade and then we went around and looked at each group. A fun, exciting time was had by all!

At the end of term 1 we are said "happy birthday" to Carolina who will be travelling for two terms and "good-bye" to Monika who is leaving to attend a new school. We will miss their cheery faces

Graphs, graphs and more graphs !

We are  learning to make graphs.  First of all we talked about how to group the big cats, then cut them out and pasted them in columns in our maths books.

Simon has  just pasted the lions in a column.

William is very proud of his graph as it shows the different groups of lions in different columns. Can you see which group has the most number of cats?

Daniel is one of the class leaders in maths and he enjoys helping others.

Jesse has made his own groups of cats .

Teddy bears' picnic with big buddies.

Here we are enjoying having a teddy bears' picnic with our big buddies. Our toys were very well behaved and enjoyed meeting our big buddies.

Mr Tonkin has been teaching us about Kia Kaha and how we need to learn to make good decisions inside and outside the classroom as well as on the way to and from school.

This has been a wonderful way to celebrate learning to be good friends.

Purple Cake Day !

What a fabulous time we have had learning about children living in Kenya and going to school there. We looked at what things were the same and what things were different. We are so thankful for our warm homes, hot and cold water we get from our taps and  the fact that we are able to live with our families. Our classrooms and school has so much equipment and we have brightly coloured walls, tables, reading books and even computers. We wrote stories about what we are  thankful  for.

Daniel brought some purple seeds to show us. Beans will grow from these purple seeds.

Some children in Kenya have to sleep in big rooms with other girls or boys, but we can have a bedroom all for ourselves.

These classrooms look very different to ours!

We enjoyed eating purple jelly  with purple grapes.

We have sunny, brightly coloured classrooms with  lots of equipment. We are very thankful for everything we have !
